The Story

Please note this is half a skull that is a wall-mountable specimen, one side of the skull is flat.

Species:
Juvenile Triceratops horridus – an iconic Late Cretaceous ceratopsian, known for its elaborate frill and three-horned face. This juvenile skull replica captures the transitional features of a young individual during a critical stage of growth and development.

Skull Length: 1:2 Scale (50cm) desktop collectible scale based on a 100cm Juvenile skull.

Time Period: Late Cretaceous (~68–66 million years ago)

Discovery Location: Based on specimens from the Hell Creek Formation, Montana, USA—a world-renowned fossil site that has yielded some of the best-preserved juvenile ceratopsid material to date.

Skull: This museum-grade replica faithfully captures detailed anatomy of a juvenile Triceratops skull. It includes characteristic features such as a short, shallow beak, developing brow horns, a narrow snout, with substantial areas of the skull yet to fuse—hallmarks of immature ceratopsids. The surface texture replicates fossil bone, complete with subtle sutures and wear consistent with juvenile individuals.

Scientific Notes: Juvenile Triceratops are crucial for understanding ceratopsian growth and skull transformation. Studies suggest that the horns and frill changed dramatically throughout ontogeny—starting small and curved in juveniles, then lengthening and changing orientation in adults.

Display: Mounted for secure, upright presentation. The dynamic display angle showcases the frill, rostral beak, and horn growth—ideal for educational use, museum exhibits, or private collections.

Finish: Realistic fossil bone texture with a hand-applied weathered patina. Custom coloration available upon request (e.g., Hell Creek tan-gray, darkened sutures, etc.).

Assembly: HALF SKULL, wall mountable, the non-viewable side is flat.
